Do you ever wonder how we end up with things like email, Skype, Facebook and Twitter? I do. It doesn't keep me up at night or anything, but I sometimes wonder how all of the amazing innovations that have now become part of our standard package of business tools originally came to be. Apparently the Guardian wondered about the same things and put together a fantastic examination of the development of the internet and its associated innovations.

The CRTC will hold hearings into the traffic management policies of Canada’s major ISPs in July 2009. The concept of net neutrality is based on the idea that access to content published on the internet should be free and unfettered. ISPs should not have the ability to shape traffic, limit access to sites and/or services, or limit how users receive data over subscriber networks.
