How do you design a website for an international brand with a broad and complex product offering and reams of information? I found an interesting blog post about this very thing on Webdesigner Depot and I'm posting the link because I think you might find it interesting and informative.

Apple vs. Microsoft - A Website Usability Study discusses both sites and compares their effectiveness in seven categories from homepage to aesthetics.

The different business focuses for Apple and Microsoft affect how each company has developed its web presence. According to the blog post, Apple's consumer oriented brand gives the company's website an edge because of it's focused messaging.

I'm curious to hear your thoughts?

My name is Kathryn and I'm a web designer and do production for Smallbox Software. I'm one of the people who integrates designed websites into our cms and does the front end code. This job comes with a lot of testing, troubleshooting and quality assurance and most of the time I feel my job title is 'Internet Explorer clean up'.
